Split PDF

Split your PDF by page range, individual pages, or file size.

Files are never stored — deleted immediately after processing.

Splitting separates pages into individual files or groups. Most common use: pulling a single page out of a multi-page scan, breaking a long report into chapters, or trimming a document down to just the section you need to share.

Common questions

Is there a free PDF splitter online?
Yes. EmergePDF's PDF splitter is completely free with no signup, no account, and no watermarks on the output.
Are my files stored?
No. Files are never stored — they are processed and deleted immediately. We never read your documents.
Is there a file size limit?
Up to 50MB and 200 pages per file.
Can I extract just one page from a PDF?
Yes. Enter a single page number in the range field to get exactly that page as a standalone PDF.
Will splitting preserve annotations and form fields?
Yes. Each output file retains the original content — annotations, form fields, and embedded links are all preserved.
Can I reorder pages when splitting?
The splitter separates pages in their existing order. To change the order, use Merge PDF after splitting — upload the individual pages in the order you want.
What format are the split files in?
When splitting into multiple files, they're packaged as a ZIP download. A single page range gives you a direct PDF.
Can I split a password-protected PDF?
No. Remove the password protection first, then split.
